Section 1: 2023

Philanthropist - A billionaire writer and a U.S. General meet in Bermuda where one pitches an audacious plan to the other.

Rest For The Warlords - Remember that huge earthquake that killed a lot of people in Syria in 2023? *Sigh* Didn't think so. Anyway, this story is just a speech given by a U.S. Senator that proposed a radically different response to that natural disaster than what the U.S. actually did.

Two Nights - We decided to try our hand at charm. So here is very much not a date; two people go out for ribs and tell each other stories of their lives.

Pigeon On The Road - Two seniors in a high school who have never talked with one another talk about the boy they both had feelings for... and how they both misjudged him.

Without Question - An older childfree couple starts the day out with a surprise erection. Their breakfast is interrupted by a local boy selling candy bars for his school and then a visit to the local senior living facility where one of their friends has died.

Gentleman Aberrant - "When will we get a vampire story?!" I hear you cry. Here it is! A vampire gets his twisted justice on a family he's hunted since Emancipation.

The Man Who Drowned The World - Remember those pilot whale strandings in Australia in 2023? What were they about?! Well, I'll tell you in this novella about the guy studying them... and what he discovered.

Every Opening - It's Thanksgiving 2023 and a young woman gets a text from a cousin she has never met and goes down a rabbit hole of her family's history. Her insatiable curiosity will put her at odds with her own mother and lead her to pursue family secrets she has been warned to stay away from.

Section 2: Dystopias

Speakeasy - Set in a near-future after Roe is repealed, this story explores the inventive ways women and medical health professionals adapt to the new and oppressive laws they find themselves living under. To be fair, it was fiction when I wrote it...

No One Misses You - How about a really short story about what it takes for the dead to return to Earth?

You Are Going To Have To Stop - Leslie gets a visitor to Leslie's Great Books! that makes her feel very out-of-touch with today's youth... and reminds her of a time when she stood up for someone close to her.

His Own Man - Cheesy Fried Potatoes goes to get a document signed to get his name (finally) changed.

Only Begotten Daughter - What if god sent his daughter down to Earth with only a divine sense of empathy? She manifests in Nebraska. Yeah... it's not gonna go great.

Hermits: A Love Story - This is a painfully-grounded therapy session on the day the protagonist has a breakthrough,

Stable Night - A decent man checks the parish prostitute out for the night to keep his rival's kid from getting his v-card punched.

Heathen Shift - On Easter, the minority employees working at Heaven's Hobbies have a pleasant conversation over their lunch break. Naturally, the Bechdel Test comes up.

You Are Free To Kill Yourself. - Years after a worldwide mass suicide event, a special agent for the F.B.I. is pulled off the task force working to prevent a copycat event. This is a bold, anticapitalist piece... and the easiest bet for what gets me sued/cancelled.

Section 3: Apocalypses

Foreseeable End - In 2023, a Southwestern Tribe completed building a completely enclosed compound and cut themselves off from the world. Almost 13 years later, their solar panels experience a problem and one of their members leaves to fix them. This is the world he finds.

Prelude To The Apocalypse Novels - Painstakingly researched, this story is the last full minute of human history across every time zone in the world.
